USTA Foundation Scholarship Application


The USTA Foundation Incorporated (USTA Foundation) awards college scholarships to under-resourced youth who have participated in USTA Foundation National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters and/or other organized youth tennis programs. Scholarships are open to high-school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrated strong community service/extracurricular activities, and who demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship is named in honor of Tracey Donnelly Maltby and Diane Donnelly Stone, who along with their father, Bud Donnelly, all played Division I collegiate tennis while affected by the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes. Two National and Ten Regional awards are available to high school students and those currently enrolled in college who have excelled in academics and tennis, have strong leadership and community involvement skills, and have been affected by diabetes.

Please note: If you have not yet submitted your tax returns, please estimate the Adjusted Gross Income. Proof/formal documentation of Adjusted Gross Income may be required at a later date. The USTA Foundation will contact you on or before May 16, 2024 if you are being considered for an award; you will be required to provide a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.

It is recommended that you complete your FAFSA application as soon as possible.

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive an invitation to participate in the USTA Foundation's 2024 College Bootcamp that will be held in Orlando, FL in July 2024.

We kindly request that you submit two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher/guidance counselor and one from a tennis mentor. Please send the following link to your two referrals so they can complete the recommendation form, and return it directly to the USTA Foundation.
